The CTF is intended to be an enjoyable way to keep learning and honing all of our skills, so ensure you play fair and avoid cheating in any way. Winning has no merit if shortcuts have been taken, since the true prize is the experience itself and whatever learning you can get from it.
All of the challenges are meant to score points upon being properly solved, with the team that manages to solve the most challenges as well as using the least amount of hints becomes the winner of the challenge.
During the CTFs you may find three different types of challenges:
- Traditional ones that require you to insert a specific flag. Flag format will ALWAYS be TXONE{FLAG}
- Multiple choice ones that require you to pick the right option. You can only take one shot at each of these!
- Auto solving ones. These will be automatically marked as solved using wizard magic once you complete a condition.
Hints may be used at any time if you feel lost or need a little assistance. However, take into consideration that they cost out of your current score, and based on the amount of hints a challenge has you can end up getting no points out of the challenge if you use up all hints.
If for example a challenge gives you 20 points and has two hints, each hint costs 10 points.
If it only has one hint, be aware its price will be the total amount of points you would be getting for solving it!
On the usage of external tools
Everything you need to solve the different challenges will be provided to you within the CTF platforms themselves. Thus, the usage of third-party tools or websites other than those required for the game itself shouldn't be necessary and are discouraged in order to prevent your own team going off track in an attempt to solve the challenges, which could deviate from the expected journey to reach the end of the game.
